Le pianiste fou de King Crimson nous offre ici la possibilité de goûter aux joies du free-jazz des années...hum, disons embrumées ! Rien de progressif donc, mais une sacré performance de musiciens. La plupart des morceaux sont assez longs, mais surtout ils ne semblent pas se " terminer ": en fait, le groupe se sentait si bien pendant l'enregisrement (2 jours non stop...) qu'ils en oubliaient de s'arrêter ! L'album est très dynamique en général, du fait du nombre de musiciens qui jouent simultanément (plusieurs bassistes, plusieurs batteurs, etc...); font exception " Gridal suite " et " Five after dawn ": deux morceaux chaotiques, plus ou moins improvisés et complètement free !
